Spring brings new beginnings, and what better way to get ready for spring than by giving your home some much needed care? These spring plumbing tips can help you avoid unpleasant surprises!

Check for Leaks
As winter transitions to spring, check your plumbing for leaks that may have developed during the frost. Look for water stains, damp spots, and dripping faucets around your home.
Also, don’t overlook areas under sinks and around toilets. Even a small leak can lead to significant waste over time. A quick inspection can prevent potential damage and costly repairs.
Inspect Outdoor Faucets and Hoses
With warmer weather rolling in, it's essential to ensure your outdoor plumbing is ready to function well.
Start by turning on your outdoor faucets to check for leaks. Be sure to also examine your garden hoses. Cracks or leaks can waste water and decrease efficiency.
To extend their life, remember to drain and store your hoses properly.
Clear Your Drains
With spring comes the shedding of leaves and blossoms, so it's crucial to keep your drains clear.
Routinely check gutters and downspouts to ensure they are free from leaves and debris. Clogged gutters can cause water to back up, leading to severe plumbing issues and potential damage.
Check Your Sump Pump
As spring rain showers come, ensure your sump pump is ready to manage excess water.
Test your sump pump by pouring a few gallons of water into the pit to see if it activates correctly. If it doesn’t turn on, check the power source and look for clogs. If basic troubleshooting doesn’t help, you may need to replace the unit.
